VERSES: James 1:13-16
“When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters.”
Day 1:
Our curious little girl was allowed to treat herself on a small pouch of M&M’s for the first time in her life! Boy, did she enjoy it?! She indulged! Our eighteen month old glutton.
Day 2:
Granny leaves her daily morning dose of Tab. Lisinopril 5 mg (anti-hypertensive) on the common table, within reach of our ever curious kitten! Pink colored, sugar-coated, a ‘mini’ M&Ms look alike! Did you underestimate our prodigy’s sense of associative memory? She did the entire family proud by nibbling away 2.5 mg of Tab. Lisinopril (Ain’t that cute?!). Her horrified Mom and Grandma were visibly shaken, that their little baby had ingested something that could be near fatal or irreversibly damaging her kidney functions!
While they rushed her to the Emergency Room of the hospital nearby, and as her heart rate and BP were being monitored, her tender body pierced, blood was drawn to analyze the toxicity levels, the extent of damage, etc. All the while our enchanting little princess was oblivious to what she’d done to herself and her loving family!
Right there, my thoughts drifted to the seemingly ‘sweet toxins’ we are exposed to daily. The toxins we ingest willingly, and the toxins we so relish and delight in. All the while, remaining oblivious to the holes in the soul that they could punch! The enemy has cleverly designed, packed and markets to lure and entice our hearts, mind, and soul – to captivate, enslave and estrange us from our GOD, forever!
If only we will perceive the heinous weight of the internal, infernal and eternal damage that these will eventually cause, and seek to take the Great Physician’s help in purging these out of our system, we will have done well!
Shall we?!
