The story of Noah teaches us something about God's Justice and Mercy, and how His Grace saves us. But many skeptics doubt if Noah's story was really true. Do you have doubts about it?
"I will remember my covenant that is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh. And the waters shall never again become a flood to destroy all flesh. When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.” God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant that I have established between me and all flesh that is on the earth." Genesis 9:15-17
Mark the form of the promise. God does not say, “And when you shall look upon the bow, you shall remember my covenant, then I will not destroy the earth,” but it is gloriously testifies that God's promise is not reliant upon our memory, which is fickle and frail, but the promise holds steadfast upon God's memory, which is infinite and immutable.
“The bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant.”
Oh! it is not my remembering God, it is God's remembering me which is the ground of my safety; it is not my laying hold of his covenant, but his covenant's laying hold on me. Glory be to God!
The whole of the fortification of salvation are secured by divine power, and even the minor towers, which we may imagine might have been left to man, are guarded by almighty strength.
Even the remembrance of the covenant is not left to our memories, for we might forget, but our Lord cannot forget His people whom He secures. It is with us as with Israel in Egypt; the blood was upon the lintel and the two side-posts, but the Lord did not say, “When you see the blood I will pass over you,” instead He said, “When I see the blood I will pass over you.” Looking up to Jesus brings me joy and peace, but it is God's looking at Jesus which secures my salvation and that of all His elect, since it is impossible for our God to look at Christ, our bleeding Savior, and then to be angry with us for sins He already received punished for.
No, it is not left with us even to be saved by remembering the covenant. There is no linsey-wolsey here—not a single thread of the creature damages the fabric. It is not of man, neither by man, but of the Lord alone. We should remember the covenant, and we shall do it, through His Divine Grace; but the hinge of our safety does not hang there—it is God's remembering us, not our remembering Him; and hence the covenant is an everlasting covenant.
TRUTH: All I ever need to know I learned from Noah.
• Don’t miss the boat.
• Remember that we are all in the same boat.
• Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.
• Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
• Speed isn’t everything; the snails were on board with the cheetahs.
• Remember the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
• No matter what the storm, when you are with God there’s always a rainbow waiting.
How big was NOAH'S ARK - Unbelievers say, “Noah could have never fit all of the animals on the ark!”
• If you ask them, “How big was the ark?” they will say, “I don’t know.”
• Ask, “How many animals did Noah have to fit on the ark?” they say, “I don’t know.”
• It’s unfortunate that most pictures representing the ark are cute little boats with giraffe heads sticking out the windows causing people to doubt the ark could have been real.
QUOTE: “The Ark measured 300 x 50 x 30 cubits which is about 459 x 75 x 44 feet, so its volume was 1.54 million cubic feet… This is the equivalent volume of 522 standard American railroad stock cars, each of which can hold 240 sheep.” (522 stock cars x 240 sheep each = 125,280 total sheep).” (Jonathan Sarfati of Answers in Genesis).
This ark was huge – it had three decks! It was no little tug boat…Look at the railway video below it has only 125 double stacked cars.
HUGE 125 + car long CN Double Stack Container train heads over old Anderson Creek Trestle by Boston Bar BC on the afternoon of May 25th, 2016. 2 Camera's in use to show different angles of the bridge!
HOW MANY ANIMALS DID NOAH HAVE TO FIT ON THE ARK?
“And of every living thing of all flesh you shall bring two of every kind into the ark, to keep them alive with you; they shall be male and female.” (Genesis 6:19).
How many animals approximately would that be?
“The total number of land-dwelling mammals, birds, reptiles, and amphibian species is less than 20,000 or so. The number of "kinds," the Biblical designation, is probably much smaller. For instance, of the 9,000 bird species, approximately 400 are hummingbirds, with only minor differences in color, size, and habitat. Very likely, they all come from only one or a few kinds, thereby dropping the total number.” (John Morris, Institute for Creation Research).
• Many experts say that there are about 8,000 kinds of animals.
• For example, there were probably only two dog kinds on the ark.
